Caspar Weinberger — American politician and businessman (1917–2006)
Authenticated
Archive Summary

Bush pardoned six Iran-Contra figures: Caspar Weinberger (then under indictment), Robert McFarlane, Elliott Abrams, Alan Fiers, Clair George, and Duane Clarridge. Walsh, the Independent Counsel, called the pardons "the last act of the Iran-Contra coverup." Weinberger's trial — which Walsh said would have placed Bush himself near the operational chain as Vice President — never happened.
