Masato Sakai (Yamagata University): Leading the Japanese research team, Sakai has documented stylistic and chronological differences between Paracas and Nazca geoglyphs. Between 2004 and 2020, Japanese researchers from Yamagata University, led by Masato Sakai, discovered over 140 new geoglyphs using a combination of on-the-ground surveys, high-resolution satellite imagery, and artificial intelligence analysis.
